Raj B Shetty is an Indian actor, director, and screenwriter who works in Kannada Films. Raj was born on 5 July 1987 in a Tulu-speaking Bunt family in Bhadravathi.

Education

Raj B Shetty did his schooling at Bharathi English Medium School, Mangalore, and post-graduated at the School of Social Work Roshni Nilaya, Mangalore.

Career

Raj B Shetty started his career as a radio jockey with Big FM 92.7 in Kudla(Mangalore). Later, he joined a theatre group and started directing plays. His career in the film industry began when he started working under Kannada film actor Upendra as a writer and an assistant director. He also made short films in Tulu and Kannada languages and wrote scripts for a few Tulu films, but due to issues with production, those films went unreleased.

He then wrote a short film of 6 scenes and 20 minutes called ‘Ondu Motteya Kathe’. When he narrated the story to his friend Pavan, he suggested Raj rewrite it as a feature film. Finally, on 6 July 2017, Raj’s first written, directed, and acted movie ‘Ondu Motteya Kathe’ was released. He went on to act in several films, including ‘Ammachi Yemba Nenapu’ (2018), ‘Mahira’ (2019), ‘Gubbi Mele Brahmastra’ (2019), and ‘Mayabazar 2016’ (2020).

Raj B Shetty also wrote films like ‘Sarkari Hi. Pra. Shaale, Kasaragodu, Koduge: Ramanna Rai’ (2019) and ‘777 Charlie’ (2022). He directed, acted, and wrote the film ‘Garuda Gamana Vrishabha Vahana’ (2021), which became quite popular in the Tulunad region due to its portrayal of Tulunad culture.
